Abstract
Two studies were performed in order to present recovery of bowel function and effects of Prostaglandin F2¥á after obstetric and gynecological celiotomy. In preliminary study of 360 cases, the gas passing hour was analyzed according to several clinical factors and operation time. In the study group of 60 cases Prostaglandin F2¥á was administered intravenously and which was compared with previous control group statistically using average gas passing hour after operation. The results were as follows: Control group. 1. The longer operating time, the later gas passing was noted. 2. There was no noticable difference by anesthetic type or incidental appendectomy. 3. Delayed gas passing was noted in post operative sedative administration, Demerol 201mg or more, and unprepared NPO state. PGF2¥á Administration Group. 1. Gas passing hour was shorten than control group in all occasions. 2. The drug effect was remarkable when the operating time was longer and NPO state was prepared. 3. Side effect was noted such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and severe peristaltic pain.
